I need someone anyones input. I'm a new LPN/LVN licensed 6/2006. I'm a private duty Pedi nurse. Here is my dillemma I jumped at the first job offered. I love working Peds but I would perfer to work in a large facility. Now that I have taken this job my resume' goes unanswered. Am I doomed. :uhoh21:

You're not doomed. However, it would be advisable to stick with your current job for 6 months to 1 year before applying at other facilities to avoid looking like a job-hopper. In addition, are you applying at large hospitals? Many hospitals are no longer hiring LPNs, so that's probably the reason they don't call you back after you've applied.

Have you applied to any skilled nursing facilities?

I have, but no luck so far. I guess I just I'll have to be slow down and relax and love my babies. I just don't like the fact I'm in someones space for 10 to 12 hours. I find myself tiptoeing through the house like I'm a burgular.(I work the overnight shift). Something will work out.

In New York, the city hospitals hire LPNs for medical surgical floors, labor and delivery and other places. But, they seem to have a hard time getting hired in the private hospitals. I was lucky in that my hospital paid my way to go to school to become a practical nurse, thus, were obiligated to hire me. I was fortunate, but it seems that I may have a bit of trouble if I wanted to work in other facilities, and long term care is NOT my thing. Have you tried the VA hospitals? I hear that LPNs get hired there.
