SOC...where does my responsibility end?

As an RN if I do a SOC and then the visits are performed by LPN's am I responsible for what happens with the patient on all the LPN visits? If I am hired to do SOC for multiple patients but dont receive the subsequent visits is this something I should be concerned with....is it a red flag? I feel somewhat confused where my responsibility ends if I only see thepatient to open the case and I am not the case manager. I am very concerned I will go do SOC on multiple patients and have my license at risk for tings that may happen that Im not even aware of happening. Please advise.

Unless you have been given follow up responsibility, you should not be responsible if you were hired to do SOC only. Have a frank discussion with your supervisor to clear up this question and allay your concerns.

You're responsible for completing the SOC only. The case manager takes over after the admission so, don't worry.

If your agency practices case management nursing, be sure you find out who is assigned as the case managing nurse. Give a verbal or written report to that nurse, document that you've done so, and that's it. However, if your agency expects you to be the case managing nurse, then yes, you are responsible for the care provided by the LPN, particularly if you are doing the supervisory visits.
