Hi guys, just want to keep you all posted, that I have started a new job today, and I like my orientation nurse, but it just seem like alot of work and paper work, well what I did today was the policies, watching 8 movies, charting info, and my orientation continues tomorrow, then am getting a preceptor after tomorrow, then followed by five days of medicating patients, and I guess it continues, my shift is 7-3, wishing everyone the best.

I'm glad you've found a position, and I hope it works out best for you! I've heard that the orientation process is grueling, so best wishes to get it over with as painlessly as possible, and on to the actual nursing process!
Good luck in your new position! :)

Continued good luck to you. I'm a new RN as well, off of orientation and on my own. Amazing how much I continue to learn each and every day. :wink2:

Thank you so much, today was another day, I am being trained to be a charge nurse, what a big deal, I want to learn how to be an RN first before this position, how can this happen? LOL
Thanks so much for your good wishes, and all the best to you too in your new career, it's truely amazing.

Best wishes with your new job! It's so exciting but nerve wracking at the same time.
We did one week of 7 to3's that included the movies, policies, signing off on technique and so on. It made for a very long week.
But I've been on the floor for about 5 weeks now. I really like it. The day flys by so quickly. Yesterday was my least favorite day so far. The assignment was just horrible. But this is life and we made it through. I've been taking on two patients of my own and then helping my preceptor with hers.
Good luck with training for charge nurse. I give you credit for that. I don't feel ready. I panic when I have to talk to a doctor or family member.
Best of luck.

Thanks Chiefy I feel so wreck about it though, I need time to be a staff nurse, yesterday I was oriented with the floor a little bit with the medication pass, but yes girl my preceptor made me practice calling the doctor with her and I hated the moment of it, thumps up to the ones who have perfected that part. Wishing you the vey best to dear.
Thanks Tweety for your words of blessings, wishing you the very best too, and lets pray that God will make us mistakes freee, LOL.

It's just so frightening being so new. But I know with time I will grow more comfortable with this. But I just don't have all the questions and statments down. So I probably sound like I fumble. But I do get very nervous because Im not cozy in my own skin. Im working on it!!!!
Everything will come together with exposure and experiences. We worked so hard to get here--anything is possible.
I love what Im doing so thats all that matters.
How are the staff you are working with? How many hours a week are you going to do?
