Well today is Aug 23 and I've read that several of you were starting school today. How was it?
We started today and it wasn't as bad as I expected. Actually it wasn't bad at all. The instructors seemed nice and appeared to care how well we do. Most of the day was spent going over stuff with only some lecture time. The one scary thing they said was that school gets harder each semester. The one thing that was a little disappointing was that I thought our 1 hour courses (Pharmacology and Assessment) were strictly skills labs but they are lecture and we have to make time to go to the lab after class hours (bummer). Hope everyone else had a good first day too (other than a tired butt from sitting so long):)

My first day of class was 8/16, and it was great. About 6 of our professors came and talked to us before lecture started. They told us the same thing, that nursing school gets harder as you go on, and that we should take our elective now to get it out of the way. The only thing I don't like is we have to self study for our medical calculations test and it's going to be in October before we go to clinical. We have to make 80% to be able to go to clinical. We also have to make a 75 in each class to pass the course. It doesn't seem that bad. The courses we are taking 1st semester are : Foundations, Nutrition, Pharmacology, and Nursing Informatics(elective). After talking to several students in the class before us they said the easiest class was Pharm. b/c there is no final and all the test questions come from powerpoint slides! Everythings going great, only a chapter behind on reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My first day was yesterday (8/23). I don't know what I was expecting, but I was dreading it! It was actually really nice. We primarily have only 2 professors and they both seem pretty fun. We did a lot of orientation type things (going over syllabus, what to expect, grades, tests, etc). I don't know anyone in my class (which I didn't expect to), but have met a lot of nice classmates. We can only miss 1 clinical day (and HAVE to have a dr's note to miss if sick) and 3 theory classes. It's going to be a lot of work, but I think I'm going to be okay!
