So excited - I have a second interview in the morning!

Nursing Students Technicians

Published

I am a second semester nursing student in an ASN program and interviewed this morning for a PCT position with a major hospital. Strangely, I had applied for their PRN position, not knowing they also had a f/t, three 12hr shifts, fully benefited position available as well. I was easily persuaded to go after that one! The hourly wage is not much, but what I am excited about is the opportunity to get my foot in the door at a top-notch network. My husband lost his job just two weeks ago, so finding this opportunity WITH benefits - is incredible :)

I was told I interviewed very well (that felt great!) and she has arranged for me to meet with the floor managers tomorrow morning - eek!!!

Does anyone have any pointers, advice, or ideas on what I should expect for a second interview?

I'm just about to start applying for PCT jobs. I'm a 4th semester nursing student. Sorry I don't have any tips, I'm just really happy for you and its good to see that nursing students are able to get jobs while in school. I'm also hoping to get something with 3 12hour shifts. Just be confident, a second interview with any company is usually a good sign. Congratulations :)

Well thank you - and good luck to you in your search!

Update - I have a 3rd interview, a "peer interview" on Tuesday morning! :woot:

I was told as long as my references all come back great, there is no reason I will not get it! Now, unfortunately, I am only being considered for the PRN position :(. The nurse managers and I could not get their schedules and my school schedule to mesh for a f/t position. I trust their expertise in knowing what will work and what won't, after all, they too were nursing students once.

Has anyone ever had a, "peer interview" before?

Yes, I have. You will meet with your immediate coworkers, aka, the other techs. They will come in as a group and ask you all kinds of stuff....my advice is to have questions for them in advance, so you get them talking about themselves first. (People like to talk about themselves lol) They will probably ask about your work ethic, if you work well with others, what would you do if a coworker needed help, etc.

Sounds like you pretty much have this in the bag though! Good luck tomorrow :-)
