SMELLS

Im about to start nursing and I right now I cant handle vomit or other bodily fluid smells or sounds...I keep telling myself that I will get used to it like I got used to it working at the vet clinic. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this...Im not going to let this stop me from achieving my goal! So any ideas will help!!!

I tend to hold my breath..... or breathe through my mouth... lol Is that bad?

guaifenesin, Nutren, and hydrochloric acid.

Another life saved.

Oh that stuff has a very distinct smell. I take Mucinex D when my sinuses are completely clogged and I know that smell, and taste. Yuck.

That's a great story though.

I second Vick's. I used it in my nurse aide clinicals. The poo smell bothers me. It got me through. I stuck some under my nose right before I washed my hands and put on my gloves. It got me through the poo, stale urine, and catheter urine (sitting all night.) I didn't gag once. I could still smell it a little, but it helped me a lot.

I do breath through my mouth, however, I always have tons of Altoids in my mouth.

I volunteer at an ED and I don't bring my Vick's. There have been some great odors there, I must say. Though it's not the same as being right there.
