try reading from the thread "anyone here applied for slmc-gc", you can get a lot of info from there.

it's not an exam, it's an interview regarding your basic nursing skills from all the nursing courses.

hi.. :pthe questions are essay type.. they would throw out situations:nurse: and then, would ask you, wat are you going to do with those instances..

but the whole interview would focus on core competencies of nurses..

for example, 1st core is safe and effective care. you would be in a panel with other applicants, and the main topic is safe and effective care, but the interviewers would throw different scenarios to all applicants..

there are 10 core competencies if im not mistaken, so that would be 10 questions for each of the applicants but that depends if there would be follow up questions based on your initial answer..

:heartbeat:heartbeathope this helps!:heartbeat:heartbeat

:nurse:

just read your prof ad. book. read and understand the core competencies of nursing. i passed the technical interview woohoo!

This is the competency based iterview questions, these kind of interview questions has been the trend to determine "what will a competent nurse do" in a specific situation or if your experienced nurse "what did you do before" in a specific situation.

Questions like

1.you were given 4 patient, pt A, B, C, D who will you take care first?" This will determine how you prioritize based on your critical nursing skills.

2. Is there a time where you encounter a diificult family members? This will determine your people management skills

Competency based question can be behavioral or critical type. Again, this will determine "what will a comptent nurse do?".

newbie here. i felt the need to register on this site because of my anxiety for my technical interview scheduled this wednesday afternoon. please, anyone, give me some tips on how will i prepare for this interview. i just received the text message from ms. gianna of slmc-gc this afternoon and i am not so sure if i have ample time to prepare. i have already read here that the questions primarily revolve on the core competencies in nursing but it would help a lot if you could site specific topics which i should i focus on or sample questions from the interview perhaps. i got to be honest, i am not so confident with my nursing knowledge and skills right now because i graduated back in 2006, had my license the same year but have not practiced professionally in a hospital since that time. i just wish somebody who is already in the training right now or at least done with the technical interview especially those who just had it recently will be able to read this post and of course reply before it's too late. thanks a million. your response will surely be appreciated.

wen did u took ur exam???

coz i took my exam last december 20 but unfortunately i havent receive a call/text from them.

i took the exam morning of october 22. the result was released right away and i had the initial HR interview among other co-apps afternoon of the same day. i then received the text message for my technical interview yesterday. that was almost 3 months of waiting. actually, i even thought it was already over for me because it had been quite a long while since the day of my initial HR interview. in your case brigz, only a month has passed so you still have to extend your patience a little longer. now, i am finally scheduled for a technical interview tomorrow afternoon and i am really REALLY anxious right now. i am just trying to review as much as i could and more importantly, i am just leaving everything to the Lord.

i had my initial interview afternoon of the day of my initial exam. after almost 3 months, i had my technical interview. i also passed it but i still have to patiently wait for the next step because there are still about 500 applicants waiting ahead of me and probably, there are hundreds more in line after me. that is really why the entire application process is quite slow.
