Failed out of last 7.5 week of class before graduation

I would take the weekend to decompress and find something to take your mind off of this for a bit. I know it will be hard, but it will make the days that follow a lot easier. Get a nice big sundae, binge watch something on Netflix, or do something holiday-oriented.

Come Monday, start a game plan about what needs to be done. What made this event happen? Was the writing on the wall the whole semester so to speak? How can you prevent this from happening again? You really need to look within to find the solution to those questions before you move on to the next task.

Are you allowed to apply to be readmitted at any time in the future? If not, start calling around to other schools about possibly going into their programs to help finish what you've started.

I failed out of LPN school. Now I'm an RN. When I was first told I could not come back to the program my first thought was, "That's it. It's over. I can't be a nurse." It took a little more than a day for me to go find another school and get back on the path. The school I chose even gave me credit for the work I had already completed. I go to my dream, it just took a little more time and effort than I originally expected.

You have many options, all of which include more schooling if you want to be an RN. Would you be happy working as an LPN for a little while? Do you live in a state that allows you to challenge the NCLEX-LPN? If you could do that you could get your RN through Excelsior college, 99% online. If your state doesn't allow you to challenge the NCLEX-LPN you might find an LPN school that will allow you to graduate after a very minimal time commitment. There were several people in my school who did not pass thier RN program and came to our school to do a term or a half term. I know many LPNs for whom LPN was their fall back plan. It's worth looking into.

I don't think I can challenge in the state of Maryland but I am a dual resident of WV (since I own a home there.) I'm having trouble finding information about it. Since it's Saturday, the offices aren't open & the websites are a little confusing. I love in the Maryland panhandle & can be in PA, WV, or VA all within about 30 minutes. So I do have 4 states I could potentially gain licensure if I have to move or something. I'm just wondering if I can take the NCLEX-PN having passed all but my 7.5 week critical care (med surg 3) of an ADN program. I need to take the route of least resistance. I need a licensure & a job as soon as possible.

Here is what I would do in your situation:

Schools are closed. You can't do anything until Monday. This weekend you can get yourself ready to hit the ground running on Monday morning.

Use the internet to find every LPN school within a 30 - 50 mile radius of your home. Do a little research on those schools to ensure that they are legit.

Monday morning you are going to call all of the schools you think you might be able to attend. Ask to speak to the director if possible. Explain your situation. Ask them what you would have to do to become an LPN through their school.

You don't want to hear, "Register, and go through the entire program." The school I attended allowed several people in your situation to attend for a few months and then graduate. I'm sure if you look around you will find a school that is willing to do that for you. Despite the poor test grade in one class you have already learned more than the average LPN knows. This is do-able. It's going to be OK as long as you don't give up.

PS - Maryland is an awesome state for your primary license. It's a compact state. Get a MD license and you can work in 24 other states with very little brouhaha.

I'm so upset! They said to transfer to the LPN program IN THE SAME SCHOOL, for an entire year & then we could start the LPN to RN program & would have to retake everything after Fundamentals!! That means even though I passed Med surg 1 & 2, Psych, Peds, OB, & Leadership, I would have to take them over again.

Can we say transfer? I'd really like to know what states offer to challenge the NCLEX-PN. I would be making phone calls but I just had my tonsils out today & it's killing me to talk. ?

Very few, but I think Florida, Vermont, and New Hampshire do.
