Hello everyone,
I am a 19 year old Australian girl who has recently dropped out of a communication degree at university but this is just because I didn't see a job eventuating from the study. Nursing seems like it is more stable and likely to lead to a job. I have always been interested in science and counselling so I think this sort of path would be right for me. I now have financial issues due to the brief stint at another university doing communication. Is nursing worth it? I will give more information on my situation if needed.
Thanks,
Kat.

There are a variety of health related jobs out there and it sounds like you aren't too sure. I'd suggest just generally looking into the various careers possible in the health field, doing some research and trying to either shadow or talk to people in those fields. There are things like social workers and counselors as well. Nursing is also a varied field so there are a lot of things you can go into. Whether or not nursing is for you though would be something you need to determine.

From my experience so far nursing school is very expensive and stressful. Its also competitive right now because everyone else is thinking the same thing you are...they want something stable in a shaky economy. If you enjoy science and you think you can get A's in your pre-req sciences then I say go for it. You have to get A's because you are competing with the best of the best to make the cut and into a nursing program.
