Should I retake the GREs?

I took the GREs this morning and would like some opinions as to whether or not I should retake the GRE. I scored an 1100. I did fairly well on the quantitative (700) but rather poor on the verbal (400).

Here is my other background:

GPA 3.82

Sciences: All As except A&P I (b) which I took in high school. At this point I have taken physics, general chemistry 1 and 2. I am registered for organic chemistry in the fall with organic chemistry 2 and biochemistry in the spring.

Experience: 1.5 years on a Thoracic Surgery Unit (We are 1/2 ICU and 1/2 PCU, but I had my unit approved by the school I want to go to and I focus on ICU.)

Extra: I volunteer at a free clinic in my area and in the big brother big sisters program.

Should I retake the GREs? Do you have any additional suggestions to improve my chances of getting accepted into CRNA school?

First of all did you study much?

You need to think about how much you can improve should you retake them

Also ask the school you are applying to......They'll tell you whether an 1100 is competitive or not

Where are you applying?

I did email the school that I am applying to (Mountain State University). I posted this before they responded. They said that unless I was really dissatisfied or applying to multiple schools that I did not need to retake the GREs.

I know a girl who is starting @ Case Western in a few days. she got somewhere around a 480 verbal and 560 quant. She called Case to ask if she needed to retake the GRE, and they told her not to b/c she had "good" everything else. So, call the school your interested in.

If I was in your shoes, I would give it one more shot on the GRE. Did you score at least a 4 on your written portion? Focus on the verbal, study the vocab and I think you can improve. My school's median score went up and I believe their lowest score was 1140 from the most recently accepted applicants.

I think your GPA's pretty fabulous, but since you are competing with people with years and years of critical care experience, make the scores and GPA speak for you. You might want to add CCRN to the list of things to get done.

Sorry, I hit the send button before I was completely finished. I think your GRE scores are fine considering your high gpa. Just make sure you get great references. I know you'll get called for an interview. Just do your homework to find out how the interview process is @ your school(s) of interest. Do great in the interview and you'll be a shoe in.
