Should I commute?

I'm about to start a two year BSN program in SoCal. Am I crazy for wanting to commute 90 minutes (75-80 miles) one way for 3 days a week? I would be against traffic both directions. The COL where my school is located is average. It would cost roughly $700/bedroom if I were to find a few other people to live with in a house, but I'm living rent-free with my folks at the moment. I have commuted a hour to school each direction (50 miles) before and I didn't think it was that bad.

I'm tempted to respond with live rent free and drive 90 min. But are you sure you can get there on time? Let one of us SoCal drivers who doesn't know how to drive in the rain have an accident and you've just added another 30 min!

That sounds like a "normal" driving time for the area ...but should you? I don't know. Do you want to?

Sounds fine to me, but I love to drive. I think commuters get used to their commute and the traffic, after a few weeks they wonder why they thought it would be an issue.

Are you needing to work during the program? My only thought is that's 9 hours of commuting per week. If you're not going to have a lot of time to study, that may be an issue. But it's doable.
