Should I accept?

It's really tough. I think you need to look at what you really want/want to be. Get your foot in the door, then you can transfer. It's so worth it :)

well it seems that this is not your fav hospital to work. Though if you did not want to work there you wouldn't have tried at all to apply for a job. I guess it all depends on how bad you want to start to work. You could hold off and see if your friends can get you in the hospital you want to work in, but it also could be a stretch and you won't get the job, and then you are at square one with no oppertunities. Plus it seems to me that if you would decline this job like you did the other job you are not going to be seen as a great employee for them. You have to think that if you keep applying for these jobs, and keep declining them at the same time they are going to get mighty tired of it, and they might never give you another oppertunity again. Personally I'd take the job, and get the experiance with them even if itis not your ideal area. Many nurses have to take what they can get at first and not be able to work where they want with their first job. Good Luck

Thanks MommaTy, I'm leaning towards accepting, but again it's the environment/staff that makes me uncomfortable :/. I eventually want to be in the ICU/ER/Post Surg unit. I want to be a Surgical RN or Critical Care RN...in that order lol.

Thanks, it's really not my fav no. I only turned 1 position down before. I interviewed with them, I want to say about 6+ times. The only one I turned down, was my first one and she had this attitude against me and told me she would never hire me in the future. The other times they went to internal candidates. I'm the one that's getting tired and exhausted from constantly trying with them and getting treated like I don't matter. I know thats just about everywhere, but I apply everywhere. This hospital doesn't have the greatest rep and many of it's staff are leaving (they vented about how bad the place was when I shadowed) That's what gets me.

The plus is that I would be in a dif unit between two hospitals everyday I work. So I could be in oncology one day..and ER the next.

The other is the 6 month period before I can transfer to a more solid position.

I can see why you would feel like all you are getting is the run around, and it is too bad that it is not a great hospital to work for, But hey I think that if one of those units that you would be working on is ER that would be a great thing for you! If you want ICU, I think that with the ER background you would be a good canidate for getting the unit you want in the long run, and even look good for the other hospitals!

Thanks, thats the way I was looking at it :) I'll try to do my best in every unit and always be eager to learn no matter where I'm at. :)

Thanks :3 they are pretty eager to get me in so I have to check with my PT job if they could change my schedule asap to accommodate my orientation thats in a week
