Shadowing at a hospital

Hi dear friends,

I have the opportunity to shadow a nurse in a hospital in order to get familiar with the hospital equipment and procedures. I am an LPN but I haven't been in a hospital setting for 2 years now and it will be really nice to refresh all that before the CPNE. I would like to know if someone can tell me what kind of experince would be most valuable and helpful for me to help me with the CPNE. Is there a list of skills that we need to do in CPNE?

Thanks a lot to everyone,

Vanessa

How close are you to the CPNE? Call up EC and ask for the study guide, it will list all the skills and areas of care you will need to complete. It comes on a CD and you print it out-- huge over 400 pages.

You can buy some of the study materials that are available, (http://www.RobsCPNE.com sells an excellent CD), on ebay. You can attend the workshops available. But you need to start with the CPNE study guide from Excelsior. Call them up and ask for your copy (if you are CPNE eligible, they send it to you automatically). Look at the other threads on this forum to find the websites for the various CPNE workshops. Good luck.
