Senior Practicum Placement

Hi! I'm a senior nursing student and I have to decide this week my top three choices for practicum placement. I am pretty sure I am going to start working in the NICU when I graduate so I am torn as to where I should complete my practicum. Should I go to the NICU or L&D or should I get in some med-surg experience? Thanks!

I would take the NICU. This gives you a chance to audition for your dream job....Best of luck...

I would do Med-Surg. It will give you the experience and all around skills to tackle anythting you would want to specialize in later. Is NICU neonatal or neuro. If you want to work with infants than you may just want to specialize now. I still think med surg is best for new RN's over ICU. I did SICU right out of school and got some resentment. I need more orientation than an ICU wants to give as a new grad.
