Select Specialty

I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with Select Specialty and know if they hire LPN's?

Thanks

I am pretty sure that the Select Specialty located in York hires LPNs. I know someone who works there.

Thanks for the reply. I thought they did but was not sure. Do you know how LPN's are utilized there? I've really only worked LTC and want some acute experience. I wonder if they use a team method, with an RN and LPN caring for the same group of patients or if the LPN is the primary nurse for his/her patients?

I can't help you with that, I know that the people that I have seen there really like it. I haven't talked to them about how it is set up. Sorry.

I've worked agency at two different Selects and have enjoyed both assignments. Both utilized LPN's by having them take an assignment and the RN's cover. I'm not sure if all Selects are this way though. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the replies. :D

I know that Select does not have any policy to not hire LPNs, however the ones around my area do not. I've done agency work at the ones located at Montifiore hospital in Oakland and McKeesport and absolutely loved both of them. I learned so much and would work there in a heartbeat. I've applied to the Select hospitals in Latrobe and Johnstown and they both told me that because of the more critical patients they are taking on, It's too difficult to have LPNs on the floor. The LPNs that they do have are the only ones that will ever be there, and they are not hiring any more. I hope the one you are applying for hires LPNs. It's a wonderful place to work and gain tons of experience.
