Seattle Pay

I have 5 years nursing experience and 2 years experience as an ECMO specialist. I currently work in Houston, but I am moving to Seattle this summer. What can I expect hourly at a children's hospital/PICU? I know different departments pay differently. I do not want to undervalue myself, but I want to be realistic.

Seattle hospitals are highly unionized and the pay reflects that. You are paid based on your years' experience per union contract. Just make sure they calculate your experience correctly. For regular hourly staff nurses the actual rate is non-negotiable.

Be prepared to be astonished at the local housing market, however. Transportation (i.e. car tabs, parking) will also be an eye opener.

Do be prepared for the cost of living in Seattle and the Puget Sound urban area. I think Texas is a lot less.

Yeah I am trying to prepare myself. I've come to terms with most likely living in a suburb and commuting. Texas can be a lot less, but living in the city of Houston is not cheap.
