Do any of you (RNs) work with some LVN/LPNs that are just a step above the rest? They know their job, they do it well and can easily do your job if the situation required it. They are a shear pleasure to work with and often make you wonder why they are not RNs. You see other LVN/LPNs (that are also good but not as good as these I'm referring to) plowing away with working and going to school for their RN... You may have said about this few I'm referring to that they would make great RNs. Well I am on a quest to find a super fast track way of offering RN to them. They obviously don't have the time for extra hours of classroom activities and maybe money is the issue. Do you know of any way that LVN/LPNs have been appointed RN on a super fast track...or maybe even just been allowed to challenge the NCLEX strictly on nursing merrit? This may seem a bit far out but for some reason it has been heavy on my mind for sometime now....please help if you can. I can't send this forward without some evidence based material. Thanks :typing

Check out the threads on Excelssior college...one of the best ways for LPN's to transition to RN role.

There is no longer any state in the US that will permit the LPN/LVN to challenge the NCLEX-RN exam for licensure as an RN. All now require that an approved school of nursing program be completed before permission to sit for the exam is given.

Depending on the state where you are located, you need to make sure that any of the non-traditional programs are accepted there, and this includes Excelsior's program for LPN to RN.
