Hey Everyone,
My first nursing school semester is right around the corner, and I am gearing up I'm so excited but I also want to make sure I'm properly prepared!!
What school supplies should I buy, what iPhone apps would be beneficial, what should I do before the first day of class, etc?!
Thanks!!

Your nursing school should have an orientation and discuss supplies that you will need. Generally, you will need a watch with a second hand, a pen light, a stethoscope, and scrubs. I also bought a blood pressure cuff because we had to learn manual BPs, but you might not need it. I can't help you out with the iPhone because I have Android.
Read around some threads on here - lots of opinions have been given on what you should do before the first day, but IMHO you should enjoy the freedom while you can.

Wonderful thread. "What are the item(s) you need most for nursing school?"

Def get a giant binder...or multiple smaller ones. You're honna need to move papers around and notebooks don't fly! It's the best way to organization.. stethescope, Kelly clamp, ornament light, stethescope I.d. tag, bandage scissors...and a Kindle!

snipsnapsnap... I just recently got a kindle and still haven't quite learned everything. How were you able to use your kindle for nursing school? (sorry if it is a stupid question! Like I said I haven't had it long!)

For school we use the Taber's Medical Dictionary, Davis's Drug Guide and Davis's Lab Guide. Skyscape has all of these and more available for iPhone. I have the Nursing Constellation Plus and LOVE it! Check with your school to see if they have a code for a discount, mine did and I saved $25. Here is the link to their webpage -

Hope this helps!
Also there are free apps available that are interesting - check out epocrates and there are also NCLEX programs. Just search your App Store for lots of fun stuff.
