Feb 14, 201016 yr There is an opening for a school nurse in the next town over. My question is I want to stand out, should I call or bring my resume in person? I am a recent grad, but I just stared substituting for another school district. Should I put that down on my resume? Thanks,mia98
Feb 15, 201016 yr Definitely put down an substitute school nursing experience you have.I would just mail it in. You will just turn it in to the District Office, the person you are handing it too will most likely not be the person interviewing or hiring. Plus I'd fear it would get misplaced if I accidentally handed it to the wrong person sitting in the office on that particular day.Good Luck!
Feb 15, 201016 yr Author Thanks.... I just really want to stand out, and not be another name in the pile. What to do? What to do???I agree I would hate for them to lose my resume, I guess I will mail it in. Mia98
Feb 15, 201016 yr The fact that you are subbing will help your resume stand out. Make sure it is impeccable, no typos, formatted well. Send with a well written cover letter. Talk about any CE that you have taken that might enhace your resume. Things they like - problem solver, team player, will ask when unsure, will take own responsiblity for staying current and knowing professional standards, gets along with staff, knows how to handle an irate parent.....I agree - I actually don't think there would be an advantage to dropping it off, and agree that it might get lost. It is not an electronic submission?
Feb 15, 201016 yr Author Yes, but I have reference letters I would like to submit as well, I can not do that electronically (I do not have a scanner). I could also fax it in, but I run into the same problem as dropping it off, it might get misplaced. So I guess I will just mail it in. Thanks for the information!! I appreciate it. Mia98
Feb 15, 201016 yr i would send electronically and mail. you can either say in the cover letter that the reference letters will follow, or scan them and attach. if it says you can send electronically and you only hand mail, they may assume you are not computer literate which is a must.
Feb 16, 201016 yr I faxed my resume. Just be sure you have the actual name of the person who needs to see it. In my case, it was the dept secretary and she hand-delivered it to the right person. I got the job, so I musta done something right.
