So I am starting school next week. Any one else? I think I will start a thread about my course. I think it would be nice if we all did this on this thread. We can all keep up with each other and maybe make an online study group if we are studying the same thing at the same time. My start date is 01/04/2012. My fundamentals of nursing book is by DeWitt. I believe that is the first book we are going to start out with. Does anyone have this book yet? I don't get mine until next week. Hope to hear from anyone!

Congrats! I know it must be exciting. I start the 17th, but have yet to get any books or much of anything. I've been reviewing anatomy but that's about it. I do want to get my books soon so I can read ahead. I believe my Fundamentals book is by DeWitt also. It would be nice to start an online study group if we're covering the same material.

I start on 1/9, I don't have my books yet but if I remember correctly my fundamentals of nursing book was by Dewitt too. An online study group would be great.

I have orientation next week!!! I am so excited!

Hi, I start on the 12th with the same text book(plus a few others)...

I am starting next week- well this week also on the 4th. Recently I've became a little discouraged though. A friend in a BSN program all but made me cry about doing a lpn program. She said they're no longer getting hired and other things. Anyone else having this problem?

I start january 3..same fundamentals book..Lancaster county career and technology school in pa...nervous no..excited and ready to learn... Yes! I just hope I have enough time for my family! Oh and get a job after the nclex! Thats what Im nervous about...

It looks like we are all going to be pretty lucky with the same book. I was looking at my booklist online and we are getting ten books. I see alot of other people getting like 18 books!! I guess because all the science, english and nutrition classes are intertwind in the course? Im glad I wont have to worry about these classes as well as nursing classes. Do any of your programs require these classes prior?

Yes, I am starting classes and clinicals next week too and am very nervous!

Awh!! good luck hun! I started last month on the 12th and it's rolling by so fast! My fundamental book is Christensen Kockrew

I start on the 4th as well!! Here in Michigan the demand for nurses rather it be RN or LPN will always be in demand!! I think its pretty much the same throughout the country from what I hear. Nursing and other healthcare fields I think will always be needed and if becomes over crowed there are so many options for Nurses in the end!!! So becoming a nurse is the best option or career in my opinion.:nurse:

OMG!! You START clinicals the same week you start class? Sheesh, talk about hitting the found running. Does your program require to be a CNA first? My program does. The director said that we won't be doing too much CNA work since we are all certified. I kinda wish we would do some CNA work because I only got my CNA for the program, I passed th boards in November. But please keep us informed. I'm thinking about doing a blog.... Idk.
