Hello All,
I am starting nursing school to get my RN in the end of March. I am currently a LPN and am searching for scholarships. All I have been able to find are the sites that try to get you to go to their schools. It has been frustrating to say the least. I am a nontraditional student and don't qualify for the mother's going back to school because I am married.
If there is anyone out there that may have any information on legitimate scholarship opportunities I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance

What do you mean , mothers going back? I'm a mother, and have gone back to school, and am single. I do not have a scholarship, they don't just say, oh your a single mom? Here's all the scholarships you need.
My school makes it easy to ply for all scholarships available up front. You put one application each year into their system and people get chosen based on what the scholarship committee for each scholarship wants to see. Scholarships are hard to get.
Have you you looked into financial aid? Are you able to qualify for Pell Grants or student loans? Your best bet is to meet with the financial aid dept at your school. I am eligible for a certain amount of Pell grants each semester. Those are federal grants. But if you have any previous degrees, you are probably not eligible for a whole lot.
Thats why it's good to meet with the financial aid dept at schools you are looking to go to.

I agree with above. Also, look into your local hospitals. Sometimes they give out scholarships once per year.

I established an account on fastweb.com and depending on the information you put in your profile, their database will match you with many scholarships. I setup my account in December, it matched me with 64 scholarships and chose the ones I wanted to apply for. Several were for non-traditional student, women over 35, nursing students...
Try it, it's a great resource for scholarships.
