Sanford Brown?

This is MY opinion.. not sure how true it is, but this is what I've discussed in the past with several people in my life. I think the main reason people tend to stay away from "colleges" such as Sanford Brown and all the others like it-- is that the "credits" you acquire will not transfer to a "real" college. So say you take english, math, history, and all your sciences at Sanford Brown, and then realize you want to get a degree elsewhere, you are going to have to take all those courses again. And you have to think that there is a reason why "real" colleges don't take those credits...

I am entering a nursing program in a local community college, and during an orientation for the program, they STRONGLY urged everyone NOT to take their prerequisites at a school like Sanford Brown because they will NOT transfer.

And also maybe on a resume seeing you came from Sanford Brown as opposed to a more respected college-- up against someone else you probably wouldn't get the job.

I too, Have always wondered about this sort of thing. Does it really matter once the NCLEX is passed and you have license in hand?

What people are saying about the credits not transferring are true, I received my LPN from a tech schoo. Bit i really don't think that employers really care where your degree comes from. I work with nurses from some of the top schools in Delaware, University of Delaware, Wilmington college, ets. and I am just as skillful as them. It all comes down to what kind of nurse that you want to be, if thats thats your ticket to be a nurse go for it.

I've read that there a few colleges in St. Louis who will take Sanford Brown's credits.

So, do employers really look at your where you went to gain the knowledge to pass the NCLEX?

I mean if you pass the NCLEX that makes you a licensed RN. Isn't that what really matters?

Funny thing is, I have seen all sort of nurses come out of all sort schools. Bad nurses from great programs and vice versa. I guess it just depend on the person.

I don't feel that anyone cares about what school you went to. The NCLEX is challanging and everyone knows this. So an employer will feel like if you can pass the NCLEX then you have the knowledge to perform as an RN. NOW as far as what type of nurse you are going to be that does not reflect the school you went to. I am a student at sanford brown in Jacksonville Florida and I LOVE IT they teach their students to be professional. Now the school can give you the tools on how to act it's your choice to use them thats with any school.
