This being the director of nursing position

Its difficult without knowing where you live or how much experience you have. In Michigan, a DON with a small agency gets paid about 70,000-75,000/yr. You should look on the website salary.com, you might be able to get a more accurate figure.

I just read an article on DONs in assisted living....average is now between 65 and 70K for experienced. Home health pays about the same.

I can't able help you out because you didn't mention in which country you are working, In Canada a registered Nurse draws an average salary of 60,000 CAD per annum.

Welcome to Salary.com - Salary.com can help you determine the market range.

And since this is a start-up, perhaps you could suggest a lower starting salary with a performance bonus and raise if things go well for the company.

Focus on what you bring to the table, and also pump him to learn his business plan so you can determine if it's somewhere you want to take a chance on. Remember, if he wants to succeed, the cheapest hire may not be the best value.

Good luck
