RPN-BScN Bridging (2019 application)

Published

Hi everyone. I graduated in 2017 from the RPN diploma program with a 3.3 GPA (no failed/repeated courses). However, I was previously enrolled in the BScN program (can't recall GPA but with 2 failed courses) causing me to switch over to RPN instead.

Will my past BScN educational background affect my chances of getting accepted into any bridging programs? (asking because application requirements include disclosing ALL post-secondary education and transcripts and it's made me quite nervous)

PS. I live in Toronto, Canada

They will probably look at it but mainly focus on your RPN gpa. I had few failed and repeated courses in my uni transcript from before non-nursing related and it didn't seem to affect my admissions.

The Bridging RPN to BScN through Centennial/Ryerson will not accept failed or repeated nursing core courses including any from prior studies in nursing. They make it explicitly known now on their program outlines. Prior to completing the bridging program you have to apply to Ryerson and submit all transcripts from all post-secondary institution attended. UOIT and George Brown via Trent University are other options in the GTA.

Although, once you got into Ryerson U & failed a BScN subject. It does not mean "the end" but you will be on probation.

Hi, I’m in the exact same boat as you. I was previously enrolled in a bscn program, got withdrawn due to failing 2 courses, and I passed my cpnre last year. I have been goving post-rpn programs a thought. I’m not too sure if any university would accept. Have you applied anywhere this year?

Hi, I’m in the exact same position as well! Previously in a BScN program, was on academic probation then suspended for a low GPA, and had to retake a nursing course that I previously passed (pharmacology) but failed the second time. I switched to RPN and graduated as well in 2017. I’m finding it hard to get into any bridging program because of that failed pharm course.

I was thinking of Athabasca LPN to RN but was told that Ontario won’t recognize their BN program.

Do GeorgeBrown & Trent U. My friend failed a Seneca PN course and eventually got accepted at GeorgeBrown & then manage to graduate at Trent.
