Go ahead and get the rolling one. Even if you don't have to use it this semester, it will come in handy later when all of your classes are on one day.

I was determined to NOT drag one of those rolling backpacks around....but mid-semester I caved. After carrying the books, notebooks, steth., b/p cuff, etc etc I decided my back needed the extra care. I was also getting a sore neck from bending over a desk so much and carrying a heavy backpack was making it worse.

Definitely get the rolling backpack. Even if you don't need it now, you will use it later. A good rolling backpack isn't that much more expensive than a good regular backpack. I actually found a really good one at a local department store for $30, and I've been able to cram everything I ever needed into it.

That's where I got mine, but I didn't want to give them free advertising. ;)

I was and still am a little dead set against a rolling backpack. My classes start on Mon and I already have 1 (very heavy) backpack full, plus another heavy bag full to carry. I think I am gonna cave in and get one in the morning. I am worried though that even though I get a rolling backpack that it still will not be big enough to carry the amount of stuff I need to carry.

Worst case scenario, you can always secure books to the outside of the backpack if you get the right kind. Try doing that with a regular backpack and see how far you get. ;)

One of the second year nursing students at my school has a little rolling cart for her books. It looks like a collapsible milk crate on wheels with an extendable handle. My mom uses one for her office stuff, and it is very lightweight and easy to manage with lots of room inside. I am planning to buy one before classes start in Oct.

Good Luck!!
