RN Transition Program cancelled due to poor enrollment numbers.....

Published

I am so upset. The college I was scheduled to begin my transition program at cancelled the program for this summer because the enrollment numbers were too low. I attend Seminole State College (SSC) and now I have to find another school to go to. I don't understand how they did not have enough applicants?

What school are you going through?? I need it to be in the Orlando area...:crying2:

OMG!! Now that sounds crazy doesn't it? Just about everywhere on this site you see people on needles and pins waiting to see if they get in or not because there are so many applicants! How the hell did that happen?? I'm so sorry!!

I am going to be applying for Valencia Community College in Orlando. They have a transition program that is only 2 days a week and online. I will be applying by Sept 15th for January start time. Good Luck!

Wow, that's kind of odd. I'm also in the Orlando area. Could it be because they have that requirement that unless you've graduated from their own LPN program in the past 18 months, you have to have 1000 hours of work experience before applying to the program? I'd love to go to SSC as opposed to Valencia, however, I graduated from OTech and they have an articulation agreement with Valencia that waives the 1000 work hours requirement.

I will most likely be applying to Valencia's transition program. I'm not feeling to positive that I'll get in though. They only take 24 people each term and the lowest GPA they've taken the last 2 terms was 3.54. If my GPA were that high I would have just gone to a generic RN program.

I also just found out Herzing University has the transition program too. I don't know anything about the school, just that the offer the program.

I think Valencia starts a bridge program 3 times a year now though. Not sure where you live, but you could always check out Lake-Sumter Community College in Leesburg too. That's really weird that Valencia is hard to get into and competitive, but SSC can't even fill their bridge program up?

Also, the lowest GPA.. would that be your total GPA for ALL college classes you've ever taken, or just the GPA of your pre-req classes combined only?

Valencia looks at your overall GPA

I also applied to Seminole state for the summer 2011. I also recieved a mail saying they had low applicants so they would not have the transition program for this year. I was so upset. I worked so hard and to have low applicants should not be an excuse. I am going to try again and apply for the summer 2012. I hope and pray they have more applicants this time and that I get in b/c I want my RN!

I know this thread is old, but did you finally get in to Seminole's Transition program? I'm going to an info session later this month and was wondering if they had the program up and running last year. I'm planning on applying for next summer 2014. Good luck with everything!

Hey Did you go to the info session? If so could you tell me what you found out. Im going to a session in mid september. I am also applying for the summer of 2014. Thanx!
