RN pay in Canada

Published

What is the average RN pay in Canada, say in Ontario?

It depends on the experience level. It was something like 23-36 when I left a couple of years ago.

Specializes in emergency.

The different nursing unions bargain individually. (as far as I know)

Check pg 5 for a comparision of salaries across the country...

and i'd like to see what it turns into..

do you guys think that the salaries will increase a bit?

In ontario, the union is ONA and we just settled the 2004 contract in september....

Starting wage is 23.80 and top scale is 38 and change with 8yrs of experience. The shift differentials are 1.30 for evening, 1.45 for nights, and 1.7 for weekends.

Hope that helps.

hi,I am new to this forum. I am currently in the process of trying to get licensure in bc as an Rn. I got the go ahead from the crnbc to write the exam. I am curious as to what is the pay scale there in the greater vancouver and will my years of experience in the usa as an Rn count?

you can easily find this information yourself. Go to

the website for the BC Nurses Union. Click on Key Documents, Provincial Collective Agreement. Check the index for Wage Schedules and Previous Experience.

thank you, for the information I will check it out.
