RN to MD track

I know some RNs go to medical schools later. Are there a lot of them?

As far as I know clincial experience from RN work definitely helps for medical school applications, also a lot of RNs work with doctors side by side. I just got a bit surprised why there aren't many nurses going to medical school later, are they just love their jobs too much to leave?

I was accepted to five of the five medical schools I applied to.

Now, I never wanted to be a MD, this was really my parents dream, but... It never hurts to know.

Is there an RN to MD track?!?! Can I do it online?!?!:p

For one, why would I want to spend my whole life tending to pt's needs and not the needs of my own family.

Why do I want a 500-1500 dollar a month bill for loan reimburesment (SP).

Nurses SAVE lives!!!!!!!

Nurses dont get those 2 am calls that disturb his/her family.

Let me ask you this.

Why dont doctors want to become nurses?????/

It's all about that white coat. :)

Real doctors end up with a dirty white coat at the end of the day. :)

We have -very- few residents that will see us turning and cleaning up a patient and actually jump in to help. I remember one attending helping us clean up a patient, and she was previously an RN.

One of my RN friends at work is contemplating going to medical school, and not because she doesn't like taking care of patients, but because she has a thirst for deeper knowledge. A lot of my friends have gone on to CRNA school, and since I work in surgery/trauma etc... lots more will head down that road.

I'm going to go back to school soon, and work on my master's degree, but I have no desire to be kept up all hours of the night when I'm at home with my family, and even less desire to sit at the head of the bed in a surgical suite with surgeons yelling at me....

I'm smart and capable enough to do anything I want. Bills can be paid off. I just love being the person doing the hands on care of patients. And, it seems like anytime I get down on the whole thing.... some patient will remind me why I like being a nurse and say something completely rewarding.

So, what was my point? Oh yeah.... nurses rule, doctors drool. :)
