RN/LPN Differences

What are some of the differences between an RN and LPN. What kind of responsibilities would an RN have that an LPN wouldn't have. Are the differences between the 2 the same in a hospital as opposed to a nursing home? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure which one to try for. Thanks.

here is information for you to read:

rns supervise the work of lpns in the hospital. lpns are often hired to work as charge nurses in nursing homes along with rns as well. rns are given much more intensive training on problem solving, decision making, and responsibility than are practical nurses. in my experience i have worked with a lot of lpns who were generally unhappy with their positions and wanted to have more responsibility and decision making authority. that could only be done if they went back to school and got their rns.
