RN Interview

:) Hello all,

I have an interview next week for a ER RN position. This will be my first interview as an RN and I am pretty nervous. I have talked to some of the experienced nurses I work with who gave me some very helpful insight on interviewing. Any RNs who are new to the game like me?

Any advice or suggestion on preparing from anyone please?

How did it feel to interview as a RN?

i am very glad i prepared.

here is how i prepared: :typing i searched anything new on the hospital's website, :confused: i looked up any possible questions that could be asked on google, i practiced eye contact and good posture while interviewing with my husband (ec students are good at mocks), bought a new conservative suit, bought a leather profolio that contained copies of my resume, diploma, license vertifications, certifications, recommendations and list of references typed out (which i didn't end up handing out). i also sent a thank you note after the interview.

it's not that i didn't take pride in my past interviews, it's just a different time and profession now. with jobs hard to get and being a new grad, i wanted to take my interview very serious. i was glad i did the preparation, the interview ended up being professional yet fun if that makes sense.

since it was my first i am sure i have areas i have to work on but overall i felt it went well.

i am still waiting and have no idea what to expect next. i am still applying to other jobs.:banghead:

how is everyone else doing on their job hunt? interviews?

When we go to Colorado next month, I'm going to meet with a recruiter ... we're planning on moving there next year, so I'm trying to get on the radar with a little face time. I recently (this past Friday) submitted my RN 3 application at my hospital -- in our hospital system, we use an "advance" promotion system, and you have to meet certain requirements and submit two copies of a binder full of your accomplishments, plus written narratives that demonstrate your total NursingAwesomeness and why you should be promoted to RN 3. So my brilliant husband suggested I should take one of my binders to Colorado with us next month -- so smart! It's a 1" binder stuffed with ... well, stuff. I had 383.5 hours of "stuff" during the last year -- classroom hours, BSN hours, healthcare volunteer hours (paramedic), etc. I was only required to have 50. Yikes! Overkill, Batman!

Let us know when you find out!!! Sounds like you had a very good plan of attack going in. They'd be crazy not to hire you! :)

Colorado Springs. My husband spent many years there after getting out of the Army while at Ft. Carson, so it's kind of "home" for him. We'll be there in 3 weeks -- I can't wait!! Love it there.

That is such an awesome idea! I never thought to do that. I wonder if I should use some of my LVN stuff with mine was well (IV certification, wound vac certification, PICC line care, etc). What'cha think?
