Couldn't find any recent posts about ride alongs, so I created a new one!
Interested in critical care, and doing a ride along in NYC. Does anyone know how to get something like that started?
Thanks!

Ride along on what? Critical care nurses work in ICU, CCU, MICU, SICU, TICU, PICU, NICU, NSICU etc
Looking for a ride along on an ambulance. Didn't realize they had to be specialized. Interested in gaining experience.
Critical care transport nurses are highly experienced (5+ years) in either general adult (MICU/SICU/TICU), pediatric ICU, or neonatal ICU nursing. Often the nursing & transport team is facility based. The rig often is a tight fit so family often can't even accompany the patient.
Flight crew might be a facility based or ambulance service based. Staffing varies and I've never heard of a ride along mostly because of space and weight limitations.
Field critical care are paramedics working under ED physician protocol & medical command using the medical model of care in tangent with basic EMTs. In NYC, most medic ambulances are fire department based with a few private & hospital based EMS companies. Generally nursing is not a part of this service, but there are nurses also certified as paramedics.
