Returning to workforce after 13 year absence

Check with your BON, you might need to take a refresher course after such a long absence and getting BLS is a good idea, because that's a basic requirement for many nurses, and the ACLS/PALS/etc is more what employers pay for as necessary for job requirements. Good luck in your pursuits. :)

having your ACLS and BLS are definitely an excellent idea... you can mention these on your resume which sometimes catches employers eye.. you want your foot in the door and those two classes seem to help

Depends on what area of the country you're in. Where I live we have no nurse refresher classes nearby and our hospitals do not expect you to have this. Our hospitals include that in all their orientation and even if you had a refresher course the orientation wouldn't be any different. However, I know some areas expect you to be up-to-date with all of this so I would just check job descriptions and even call places and just ask. Most of our postings say you must get whatever certifications within so many months after being hired which means they provide it.
