The three states I have been licensed in just wanted my Continuing Education and my check. That's all they got.

Answer any questions honestly ... but don't give them any information they don't ask for.

Ditto. Don't give any info that is not asked for by licensing or the employer. If an issue is raised by the employer, point out that there are a lot of staff members on psych meds that they don't know about. Another point to raise is that there also are staff who have untreated problems; at least your friend is getting treatment.

molly one. . .I see from your profile that you are a pre-nursing student and not a licensed nurse, so I would not expect you to know about licensing laws. The boards of nursing are not interested in a nurses personal health history unless it involves a conviction related to felony violence, illegal drugs or alcohol abuse. Your friend's license renewal is not going to be affected by her personal illness at all. When her license renewal comes up, she will not have to say anything about this. Why are you asking this question and not her?

I don't think it's anyone's business, there are probably ten's of thousand's of nurses under a psych doc's care and taking psych meds. If you don't have a "medical " condition that prevents you from performing your job, that;s all the info needed, the licensing board does not evaluate each person's personal medical file.... Then there would be NO NURSES PERIOD !!! Lots of nurses w/ "psych" issues, i.e. depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar, whatnot, are excellent nurses , just like many without any psych problems are crappy nurses,
