Retaking NCLEX after 3 years

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I know I’m not the only one out there who has had to retake the NCLEX but I really feel so defeated.so here is a little bit of my story. I graduated December of 2018 and tested January 2019 had the max amount of questions (265 at the time) and failed, when I got my results back I was either above or near on everything there wasn’t one category I was below in so I’m not sure how I even failed I guess you can be at near passing in too many categories as well.

My grandfather then passed and I didn’t postpone my retest date and ended up failing again I wasn’t over grieving and couldn’t fully focus during the exam.

the last time I tested I had been out of school so long and was working and not dedicating enough time to studying and failed a 3rd time.

I didn’t retest at all in 2020 or 2021 and I’m ready to get on with my career and better my life as I feel nursing is my calling.

My problem is now I don’t even know where to begin with studying because there is so much that I need to brush up on. I have a lot of book materials already and don’t know if I should spend an extra amount of Hurst etc. I have heard a lot about the Mark Klimeck review. Any and all advice is really appreciated.

and I’m not one that believes in “it shouldn’t take you this many tries to pass” things happen in everyone’s lives at different times and some things in my own have taken more of a priority of my time. Everyone’s path is different and when you go into a patients room as a nurse they don’t look at you and ask how many times it took you to pass your boards.

Check your State Board of Nursing - You may need to take an RN Refresher course prior to testing.  Plus, you may want a live review - I realize that you may not be able to do in-person, but if you have a live review that you can stream or view via zoom or the like.

You will want something where you can ask realitime questions

I know a few friends, who are now RNs, did this with course refresher and live review during precovid.

I have helped several students interpret the result statement. There are a lot of clues/info on what you should do moving forward from that report.

Near passing is below. Near is failing.

@Aliceee Hi, did you get any info? It seems we're in the same boat and I plan to take boards next month. I can tell you what I've been doing if you want. I don't mind sharing info

I haven’t rescheduled yet and haven’t really made a solid study plan either. I would appreciate your info on what you’ve been doing. Thank you!
