Hi,
I need help with a resume. Mine is perfect for me, but I have had two really short term positions (one 8 weeks and one 5 months) and know that doesnt look good. I was going to list them on the application and not put them on my resume but then it looks like I have not worked since 2010. If I do put them on the resume, should I shorten the desciptions of the older jobs (many years ago) and give some space to the short term positions so it at least looks like I put some effort in on those two jobs?
thank you much for any suggestions

The only jobs that have had in the last nine years were an 8 week and a five month job. If that is the case, list them or not list them, it doesn't make much difference. You have only worked 7 months in the last nine years.
NICU Guy - I get that it doesnt make much difference to you - I was hoping someone a little more in a position to give advice would come along. Imagine I took off all that time to raise 11 kids so I sure am worthless to the working world now. In case you are without much self awareness, youre kind of - Ill just say abrupt to not cause drama - or icuish.

Sorry I didn't use my rainbows and butterfly emojis. I wasn't trying to be abrupt, just stating facts. Obviously you are sensitive towards the facts. You asked if you should include them. The problem is that employers are interested in hiring the best candidate. An 8 week job and a 5 month job does not look good on a resume. Add to the fact that those are your only jobs over the last 9 years. How do you make either of those facts look good to an employer on a resume. They don't know you personally. They only know you based on your resume. That is why I said that it doesn't matter. Either way does not put you in a good light. Somehow you need to get to the interview stage. The best way is to find someone that can personally vouch for you to their employer.
BTW, I managed a sleep disorders clinic for 14 yrs prior to going into nursing. I have been involved in numerous hirings. The resumes and the initial interviews went through me first before going to the medical director.

I agree with NICU guy. 7 months between two jobs in nine years is not going to make any difference. It probably would be better if these positions were relatively recent, like within the last two or three years. If older than that, then they are probably pretty much useless. I’d look into a refresher course.
