Hello! I am new to school nursing and was wondering if there were any books you would recommend I purchase. Also, if there are any online resources you recommend. I'm currently interviewing for positions, but I'm pretty sure the training before I start is going to be minimal, so want to be as prepared as I can be. Thanks!!!

    School Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice

    This realy helps define your role and how it is defined by your state NPA. I also recommend joining your state association and NASN.

    Brush up on pediatric assessment (if you still have your nursing school textbooks, just re-read your chapters on that!). Re-acquaint yourself with asthma, diabetes, allergies, anxiety/depression in children/adolescents, and ADHD.

    For school nursing in particular, this is a great book:

    I also recommend The Sports Medicine Advisor by Dr. Pierre Rouzier

    Has assessment for common sports injuries and exercises to help with recovery.
