Research help please

I'm in my first semester of RN-BSN school. My first research assignment is to come up with a PICO question (Problem, intervention, comparison, outcome) format. My plan is to do the following, "In the adult population with total hip replacement, how effective is early ambulation compared to bed rest on decreasing post operative DVT's". Any one know of any good articles on this particular subject, or something similar? I would greatly appreciate the help.

Learning how to search for the articles, assess which articles are applicable, and determine the validity of the articles is most likely why you have that assignment.

No one cares if you remember anything from that topic, what is important is that you developed the tools to answer it.

Teach a man to fish and all that jazz.

^^ This, exactly ^^

Yes, yes, yes, yay, Asystole!

OP: AN is not Ask Jeeves or Google. You're in school-- go to the LIBRARY and ask the librarian how to access CINAHL, the Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature, or whatever other research databases they have. They probably have a subscription and you can find everything you want there, on PICO, DVT, and total hips, all of which you will want to access.

I leave it to your budding critical thinking skills to evaluate the extant literature and decide how much is good, bad, or indifferent.
