I'm thinking about becoming a nurse in the near future. I'm graduating high school soon and going to college in the fall. I need to get my general education out of the way before I do anything but I have one question.. Is there any books you guys recommend about nursing? I want to have the edge when going into a nursing program. Thanks!

Anyone know where to get discount/used books online? I've checked Amazon and they're a bit pricey for me right now. I'm shooting for a $50 max

Half.com

half.com is excellent.

Also, check out ebay. You should be able to find tons of new/nearly new/gently used textbooks of nursing, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, micro, patho... for dirt cheap. Really.

It appears to be an advanced book intended for surgical residents. Probably more advanced than you need at this time, but if this is what you're interested in reading, then who am I to say "no"?

Since you haven't taken any college courses towards your nursing school requirements, try a basic Anatomy and Physiology text; I think, at this point, it will serve you better. This is the one we used in my program... http://www.amazon.com/Holes-Human-Anatomy-Physiology-David/dp/0073316091/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1213239534&sr=1-1

This book will be a keeper throughout your career, and will get you started learning about the human body. I liked this one a lot.
