report from the ER

Just wondering How do you recieve report from the er? Is it verbal , writen, faxed, or do you just look it up in the computer and you can ask questions later?

Verbal. Usually over the phone. If they need to get an unstable pt over fast, they'll give me the condensed version via phone (30 seconds worth) ...and the rest of the story at the bedside when they arrive.

We do verbal over the phone and then usually a brief in-person verbal when I go to pick up the pt.

We get a verbal report from ER and if anything changed, the nurse gives an update at the bedside.

By phone. Also, we're fortunate in that we have computerized access to lab results, x-rays, etc. So, if we want (or have time) we can kinda get a handle on things even before we get the call! It's a very nice set-up...
