Renal Nurses, HELP! :)

Hey all! I have an interview on a renal floor today (not HD)! My experience is in cardiac nursing. what types of pt's do you take care of? What are the main diagnoses? Any tips? What do you like about it working in renal? I NEED this job more than you can imagine! I moved to GA as a new grad for a cardiac job and desperately want to move back home to CA.

I'm new to dialysis but some of the things that might help are:

Expanding on current exp with cardiac. Both renal and cardiac (obviously) closely tied to cardio vascular.

In my interview, I talked about how interested I was in how the kidney affects so many systems and how we in renal therapy care for those effects (ex: Skeletal (Ca and Vit D), Endocrine (PTH), Cardiovascular (BP, Fluid balance, CHF etc..), Excretory (Decreased urine output and increased potassium), Neuro (sodium) and on and on..

I also mentioned that we had begun receiving a lot of kidney pts (which was odd on a neuro-surgical floor) and that I was increasingly drawn to those patients.

I don't see transplant patients once they have one (unless it fails) but I find that whole process fascinating.

I didn't know renal nursing, but I was hoping that my eargerness and excitement about renal would land me the job. Either it worked or they just needed someone.
