Relocation .........Please help

I am interested in buying a house after graduation, I am looking in the following areas; Monroe, Middletown or Nyack. Any RN's currently working in these area's? How is the pay for new grads?

Do you commute to manhattan? if so how long is the commute?

Also, how is the education system out there? I have a 12 and 6 year old so finding a good school is very important to me. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated in regards to the different areas.

Thanks

Hi I'm not familiar with those areas, but if you check out the citydata website there is a forum that has hundreds of members in ny that can give you good (non-nursing) info on those areas if you need more info than someone gives you on here. :-)

All of the places you mentioned would be 1.5 to 2 hour commute to NYC - you would be better off finding a local hospital. You won't make as much money as working in NYC, but the time and money you'll save by not commuting would even it out! I live in Putnam County, NY, and if I wanted to commute to NYC it would take me 10 minutes to get to the train and then another hour train ride... but I chose Hudson Valley Hospital nearby instead. It will take me 10 minutes to drive to work, soooo worth it (even if the pay is about 10K less than in NYC!) Good luck!

I grew up in Nyack literally it is a 30-40 minute drive to the city you could work in weschester that is about 25-30 minute drive and they pay well out there. In Nyack there is Nyack hospital and it is an okay hospital they are part of the union so you get some of the perks in that they get in NYC. Monroe is beautiful well atleast where my family live and the school system is great out there too but if you are going to live in rockland Nanuet, pearl river, adn def West clarkstown is great actually voted one of te safest towns in america and they have a fabulous school system I should know cause my dad was the superintendent years ago hope this helps
