relocating to LA area

My husband is considering a job offer he has in LA and I just wanted to find out about the area. Where is a good place to move a family near LA and what are some of the better hospitals to work for (partpartum and or nursery). I am really interested in the schools and safety of my family mostly, it doesn't have to be in LA, but maybe a decent commute. Thanks

Which part of LA? LA County is quite large and it can take hours to get from Point A to Point B. Even with traffic glitches, the commute times can be terrible.

If you can give us a better idea as to the area that your husband will be in, then easier to recommend places for you. The city is much too large to do it the other way around.

Another thing . . . I grew up in So. Cal and people often say "oh, you are from Los Angeles" and you can be from Orange County . . . .

Specifics are needed.

I really don't know much about what part of LA the job is in, but I do know the zipcode if that helps, it is 90066. Thanks

Well, according to the USPS . . . that is Los Angeles . . . which is still a huge area.

Ok, hope this helps, it looks like it may be in the Mar Vista, Venice, Culver City, Brentwood (LA County) area. Thanks

That's Playa Vista or Culver City or thereabouts... that's just south/southeast of Santa Monica and West Los Angeles.
