Registered nurse

Published

I have been a nurse for 6 years, have worked the hospital floor for 4 year med surg and geriatric psych, have done home health for almost 2 years and am now in a doctor's office for almost a year..I don't like nursing, never really did..I do like people and got into nursing for that reason but hate the career..I have an associate's degree in nursing and business administration Bachelor's degree. I do not want to go back to school. Can anyone suggest nonclinical jobs I can look into with my background. I am anxiety ridden because of my job and need to move on into something else for my health. I am an excellent employee and feel like this career is the most thankless job I've ever had.. The pay isn't bad but the stress is over the top and I just don't want to do it anymore but am at a loss regarding where I go from here. Would appreciate some advice.

Work for an insurance company.

Best wishes.

You have a business admin bachelor degree. You can apply for pretty much anything in the business world.

Insurance company - good money, low stress and you can still use your knowledge of the field. Plus. ...often can work from home (like I do)

Out of curiosity, I hear RNs talk about "working for an insurance company" often, but what kind of job titles do RNs usually get if working for an insurance company?

Case management or utilization review or educators for specific disease management.

Claims for health insurance, injury claims for auto insurance. Also you could check into a medical paralegal. They mostly work for personal injury attorneys, most want to hire RNs.

Good luck
