Refresher Course

Hi fellow professionals! Hope you're all having a great day.

I hope you can find the time to read this and help me.

Your answers will be genuinely appreciated.

Facts about me:

  • Graduated BSNursing 2011 in Philippines
  • Have not taken the local board exam
  • Went abroad to work as a Domestic helper for 2 years and studied the culture and language of that foreign country for 2 years
  • Did not practice or worked in the health field
  • Have all the requirements and qualifications to work as a health care worker in that foreign country
  • Will stay here in Philippines for little over 1 year

Question:

I will return in that foreign country with a student visa to study another degree, although I will just use that visa to re-enter that country. I will also take advantage of my stay there to find a real job as health care worker in that country and apply and hopefully get a working visa, and eventually be a resident after 3 years.Since I have all the qualifications to work as a health professional there, it will be easy for me to find a job although having an experience in the hospital setting is a huge advantage, and that is what I don't have. And also since I did not practice my profession, I kind of forgot the things I learned as a student.

That is why I thought while I am still here in Philippines, I can work or at least get an experience working in a health related field in a hospital or home depending of course on my qualifications. I am also willing to work for free.

I also heard about Refresher Courses although I am not sure if I am qualified to take that course since I have not taken the board exam yet.

I hope someone can help me find Hospitals or institutions which accepts under-board employees and Refresher Courses. If you can give me some ideas or advice that can help me with my situation, that will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your answers. God bless

I'm a little confused. Are you asking about refresher courses and "under-board" positions in the Phillipines? Or another country?

What is an under-board position? And why would you be willing to work for free? (Just curious)

Hi Roser13, I am looking for refresher courses and under-board jobs in the Philippines. I am willing to work free if that is a "thing". What i mean is if I can work or practice in the health field but for free, for example volunteers, although I know that in some hospitals they offer incentives for volunteers. :)

Under-board refers to unlicensed nurses that have not passed the NLE (nurse licensing exam in the Philippines). Not only do many nurses work for free in the Philippines in public hospitals but many pay for the privilege to work for free!! Apparently one can work as a volunteer if you graduated from a BSN program but have not passed the NLE
