Hi:
Question about references: do you get references from all of your travel assignments, and do you get them from the nurse manager who hired you, or the charge nurses you actually work with? If your staying with the same company, do you still get references?
Thanks.

I don't use references from every single assignment. My company likes to keep 3 references on file for me, so I have my old nurse manager (from before I started traveling), a charge nurse who I still talk to from one of my assignments, and a friend of mine who is also a nurse I used to work with. Your references should be people you still keep in touch with, and who have worked with you- then they'll be able to answer questions about your work ethic, strengths/weaknesses at work, etc....

Depends on your agency and the facility that you will be going to next. Quite a few of them want a reference now from someone that you have recently worked with, or recently worked under such as a manager.
And this is even if staying with the same agency. They need updated files all of the time to meet JCAHO requirements, and you want a company that has their approval.
