Recognizing bitter people

I am trying to answer a question for my project. The question is ,"How does a person recognize a bitter person?". I have been looking all over the internet and have not been able to find any signs/symptoms of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Did you try looking in a dictionary? My Webster's defines bitter as "causing or showing sorrow, discomfort, or pain; grievous" also "sharp and disagreeable; harsh; severe; piercing; as bitter remarks". It also defines a bitter-ender as "a person who persists beyond reason; one who will not give in." That might be a place to start.

Thank you.

I looked it up inmy dictionary before going here, and it gave a completly different definition (it made no sense at all). Your's is so much better.

Once again thank you.
