Recent Graduate needs help!

Published

Hello,

I am a recent nursing graduate. I do not have a full time experience yet, only 2 years of part time general nursing experience. So, I am in the process of getting my CGFNS evaluation right now. I would really appreciate if anyone or (Suzanne4) can answer several quesitons. In particular, I am looking at Chicagoland job opportunities.

1) Is it going to be hard for me find an employer since I do not have full-time experience.

2) I am considering looking for a job without agencies, so I was wondering who should I contact regarding my immigration (green card)?

3) How long does it usually take to get a green card if I will an employer?

Thanks in advance.

If you are a recent nursing graduate, then your experience that you had before you graduated does not count towards the experience that facilities wish to see. They consider employment as that being after you have earned your degree, not while you were a student. Since you have not worked in the RN capacity, or have you?

You require an employer in order for you to be petitioned for the green card, so there is not a thing that you can do to expedite anything.

Highly recommend that you focus on passing the NCLEX exam first, before doing anything else, as no one can do anything without proof of passing of that exam. You do not need the CGFNS exam for Illinois, just the CES. So focus on passing the exam before you even contact anyone about a job.

Without having passed the NCLEX-RN exam, there is not going to be any employer that can make you any type of offer. They cannot begin to do one thing without passing results that need to be submitted with the initial petition.

Please read the sticky at the top of this forum called the Primer, it will give you information that you need to work in the US. Even if you get direct hired by a hospital, they are the ones that have to petition you, you cannot do anything on your own. Employers are required for this.
