RE:Nebraska Processing TIme ?

Published

I was just wondering, if all service centers have the same standards..why is Nebraska center trailing behind when it comes to processing of I-140 with other centers, like texas? are they understaff?.or nebraska receives more applications?.. If there are two applicants who have the same PD(with complete files) but the one is filed in texas and the other in Nebraska, obviously the former will be approved first...seems unfair:uhoh3:

As far as I am aware all go to Nebraska and they decide on which go to Texas. That is only the beginning of the process then there is NVC and your file is held in limbo until PD is current or visas are current

From what I have read is that Nebraska just does things in a different way than Texas but that has changed of late as well. We have read that Texas started a pilot program that started in February of this year to increase efficiency. Rather than process an I-140 and wait years for a visa number for a green card they would like to process files for the I-140 when a number is actually available and do everything together. This would save time in the long run rather than looking over everything twice knowing full well the file would just sit there waiting for a number due to retrogression. We have noticed from the sites we watch that very few esp lately with newer PD's that are not current are getting I-140's approved. It is also due to less staff working on them since they are focusing more on citizenship cases. To illustrate my point we had a few updates on our I-140 late in January and since then have had no updates and no RFE, no action. Our PD is July 17, 2007 and Texas is reporting processing of Aug 15, 2007. Just remember those are just estimates. But why Nebraska is reporting still in 2006 is very unclear. I know it is frustrating but just remember that with retrogression nothing would really change at this time anway. For us the frustrating part is that we are really anxious to get in the housing market and can't until the I-140 is approved. So we are in limbo for now. We have been through having to leave the country before and never want to go through that process again. We had to move back to our country 2 months after purchasing a home back in 2001 and it cost us a lot financially. Had we known what we do now we would have hung onto our home because right after that the price on our home doubled. So we never want to repeat that mistake. Hang in there a lot of us know what you are going through.

I just found out on Friday (April 18) that my attorney thinks that our file went to Nebraska and then to Texas and now they fear it might have been sent back to Nebraska again. For nurses like myself that applied last July it is still a LONG wait just for the I-140 process. My attorney states that they just had an approval recently for a nurse with a PD from February 2007. It is hard to wait but nothing else to do but wait right now. I understand how you feel.
