hello. i just read the primer re: not going the CA route for initial licensure and it was mentioned there that after 3 years CA will destroy your records if you're still not legally working there by that time.

now, i'm just not sure if i'm not searching CA BON's website thoroughly but i really can't find that "3-year info." there... all i can i see is the 8-year renewal for lapsed RN license. can somebody please provide me with the link, so i can inform (or warn) my friends who are planning to take that route.

As far as I am aware it is on the letter you receive stating you passed and must provide SSN within 3 years or file is cancelled

Anna, is correct. It is on the letter that CA BRN will send you when you passed the nclex-rn exam and is 1 req't away from being licensed in CA.
