Ratios?

Hi all!

I am a new grad working on a med-surg/tele floor on Long Island, wondering about RN-patient ratios at other hospitals/units. We routinely get 6-7, sometimes 8, on day shift and I feel like this is too much but maybe it is typical everywhere. If others can share where they are (either hospital or just LI, NYC, upstate), type of unit, shift, and typical ratios. Thanks !!

I had a travel job at Montefiore’s Children’s ER in the Bronx and we routinely had 10-15 patients at a time. I hope that has changed- I know patient ratios was one of the big points in the near strike last year.

I quit after 11 shifts.
